A Chin That Lives in Jersey

When you hear the term 'Boomstick', what do you think of? You recall one man who basically gave the middle finger to evil and fought his way to show that even the common goofball can be a hero. He is not that good though since he is the one who has the gun. Long before I knew of Evil Dead franchise I remember back in the days where VHS rental stores were everywhere, a cover image of a man standing proud with a chainsaw in his hand as the smoke circled up his arm, torn shirt with straps on his muscled chest and a beautiful lady on his side. Below what was a car, skeletons, and tiny people with a fork?! What kind of a movie is this? Keep in mind I was only 8 at the time and thinking 'This has to be the coolest movie ever!'. Naturally this is when I started to love Horror movies at a young age after watching both the original Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street and the most beloved sequel of that franchise, Dream Warriors, all thanks to my Uncle Mario who showed them to me. I was so baffled when I couldn't rent this movie I always kept seeing at the video store. It wasn't until I was 10 that they finally let me rent that movie. It was titled 'Army of Darkness' starring Bruce Campbell. Watched it and loved it! It wasn't really horror at all, more like Looney Tunes meets Three Stooges with adult situations. After that I got to watch The Evil Dead and it's Re-quel; Dead by Dawn.

NOW ONTO THE MAIN TOPIC OF THIS BLOG:

Back in 2012 there was a contest to choose 2 people of the next costumed actors/actresses to come to the fairly new at the time 'Days of the Dead' which was held in Indianapolis. I chose this gentlemen named Adam King. He sported the character I remember watching back when I was a kid and while I got older too. He was Ashley 'Ash' Williams from the Evil Dead franchise. While the tallies of votes were counted, he won!

I have seen people dress up as Ash but, nobody can come close to this guy right here. He amazed me of how uncanny his look is so damn accurate to Bruce Campbell, I'm still stunned to the very day. June came around and I finally got to meet this guy. I arrived at the hotel where I saw my fellow friend Nick Tyson talking to him and as he turned to me, he automatically knew who I was. With the most relaxed calm voice he said "Hey Steve, it's nice to meet you". I replied back "Nice to meet you too Adam, you're an amazing Bruce's Ash hands down". He was very pleased to know that people cared about his look. I do admit I was really nervous meeting him. Why? I am a shy person in person but, I started to warm up where I felt very comfortable to talk to this guy. During the convention I donned my Heath Ledger's Joker return from the previous 1st ever 'Days of the Dead'. He told me while as Ash, to act sexy towards the camera that my better half was carrying as Harley Quinn. I got to know things about him and damn; he was so much fun to hang out with. With sad regret I had to do only 2 days worth of the show because I couldn't get Sunday off. When the convention was over I added him on Facebook and let the love and craziness begin!

So a year later and we're back once again as characters we love and I added something new. I decided to do for the first time ever Jack Nicholson's Jack Torrance from 1980 Stanley Kubrick film 'The Shining' based on the best selling Stephen King novel. I was very uneasy taking on Jack's Jack, but Adam assured me that it will "Go great and many people will notice!". He was right! Minus the few people that mistook me as Jack BLACK dressed as Jack Nicholson's Jack Torrance by whatever reason. Why associate Black's name to a horror convention when you know very well it's Jack Nicholson. Was my hair too long for it? Or was it that the fact Black kinda mimics Nicholson? Anyways; This time beside Adam supporting the torn shirt with the Boomstick and Chainsaw, he was wearing the full stubbed handed shirt and the S-Mart stock boy attire complete with the metal hand Ash wore during the medieval times in Army of Darkness. He let me borrow his green oozed Axe to complete my Jack. I kept saying "Scatman must've had green blood under that winter coat when he got axed". Adam was very keen on keeping his Ash very much alive and well. Still knowing that he really wants to meet his idol he costumes as and I kept telling him he will one day sooner or later.

Dreams do come true and not just in fairly tales either. He finally got the meet the Boomstick master; the Chin king himself with all the cocky attitude included, Bruce Campbell. The moment where the Earth stopped to take a multiple among multiple looks in awe. I'm very happy that he got to meet Bruce and fore fill his dream and that will always be one thing he'll never stop talking about. With his beautiful Girlfriend at the time, he felt very accomplished but there was one thing he knew must do.
He married his girlfriend! She was just the wonderful complete circle he was looking for all this time and never ending love he gives her day in, day out. I see Jessica as a big inspiration in his life and he is very lucky to have a wonderful woman that loves him so much. As the little younger brother I was very happy for the both of them on their marriage and their continued support for each other all the time. I have yet to meet Jessica in person, but what I can see/hear/and know she is very friendly. This Summer as of the year 2017 I am planning to take a trip to New Jersey and spend a couple of days with them. I miss Adam very much. Friends come and go; but not this guy. He never once left me behind where I am in the dust or felt like he was 'better' than me. I lost friends because of that.

To conclude this blog entry dedicated to a Brother that I love dearly; I want to say if you ever make a friend that you can instantly click with and know you can chat about anything to that person with feeling too odd and strange. Be very lucky, there is very few people in this world that share the same values and respect as you. Thank you for being who you are. Thank you for being my Best Friend through these years. Keep on rocking that Boomstick!

When it's Love YouTube Interaction

It was a hot, boring afternoon 5 years ago during the end of Summer. Watching videos on the newly popular site called 'YouTube'. Before all the copyrights, companies demanding to remove their media from you. I was in the mood to watch really funny videos with my now former 'best friend' through the good old house phone. We were watching the famous Chris Crocker 'Leave Britney Alone' which led to Seth Green's parody 'Leave Chris Crocker Alone'. We laughed so hard we couldn't stop.

After watching that video when YouTube showed 'suggestions' when the videos were done playing; something caught my eye and it was something I knew what it was. Someone was dressed up as the character 'Harley Quinn' from the TV and Comics. The title was called simply 'Leave Joker Alone!'. So I watched it and really got good laughs and chuckles at this talented girl. Something made me fall interested with this channel. My computer was having problems during that time and sometimes when I would click on something; it wouldn't start until like 5 minutes or maybe 7 depending on what it was. As I started to watch more videos from this girl by the name of 'harleymk'; my media player came on from a song I selected way before I watched her parody.

What song you ask that it was? I was listening to some Van Halen since I am a fan of listening to classic rock and I always enjoy mostly 80's music. It was 'When it's Love'. Call me crazy but I actually don't mind Sammy in maybe 3 songs when he was with the band. Anyways; I couldn't stop listening to it and watching her videos. I was instantly hooked to her videos.

I subscribed to her channel and every week or so I would see the newest video made by her. Many great videos were made and I had nothing but support for her in what she was doing.

So in late of 2008 when she made a video about how she is on this game place called 'IMVU' she asked her subscribers/friends if they have an account so she can add them and talk to them. I quickly re-registered to it since I had an old account back in the day. At first I didn't know if she added me but then I quickly saw that she did and when I first hit 'Invite' boy was I nervous. Me talking to 'the HarleyMK' in person by simple touches on my keyboard. I kind of made it feel like I was talking to a celebrity or that I just never had any luck with girls by talking wise; they ended up using me or making jokes about me in a sneer way. So we talked a little bit and then I shyly kinda signed off because I was so nervous.

By the time at the end of 2009 I started to go back on there again and faced my fears..somewhat. I clicked 'invite' and we started to talk again. She was worried about me because she thought of me as a nice guy who she thought was older because of my goatee at the time when she did a 'Joker Contest'. Oh my god; I am talking to her again..I must not screw up on this! When we interacted we have found out that we had right down to the nail and bone the same similarities minus the Joker and Harley stuff.

I remember when it was about to hit 2010; I said for my New Years wish that I hope that there will be a girl for me finally where I can easily rest my head and have the light shine on me. Through that wish and prayer; I do believe God answered my prayer and lead me to her. I will never forget the time when we were both falling for each other and I asked her on May 16th if she would proudly be my Girlfriend. I was expecting the usual saying 'You are cute but I can't see it happening" etc. Many heart breaks I always got from girls dumping me or laughing at me because I wasn't in their 'league'. She proudly accepted that and I was in awe of shock.

So I had a girlfriend and it really felt right. People said to me "Online relationships don't work out; they can never happen" etc. Truth to be told is that my Cousin met his now Wife online and had a Son together. I felt like I was going in the same footsteps as him.

All throughout 2010 we talked on online and by phone of how much I love her and she loves me back. It wasn't until 2011 of February is when I packed my stuff into my Chevy Cavalier by leaving New Hampshire all the way to Indiana by myself; of course with the help of a GPS too. It was a long; long ride but it was worth it because I wanted to be really close to my Girlfriend because that was my dedication of how much she means to me. Ever since then we have been going to Horror conventions, meeting new friends, traveled to Chicago for the first time and more!  Now that 2013 is hitting; it will be 3 years in May that I have been with her.

I love you so much my Babygirl. You're the light of my life, the greatest strength of my will, the heart that never stops beating. Never once will I ever stop loving you. There was a man who taught me how to treat a woman and show how much you love her. And that is what I am doing to you; I am becoming my Grandfather of how he treated so well to my Grandmother and family. Forever love to you my dear!

From Pictures to Perfection!

"Whatever you do; Don't fall asleep!"

Many years of being a Nightmare on Elm Street fan I would never have thought to come across someone who is very identical to the amazing; yet beautiful actress Heather Langenkamp. Her most famous role in movie history is a young woman on a battling quest of answers and a 'boogeyman' named Nancy Thompson.

Three years ago while checking my deviation outlook on the website; deviantArt.com  I stumbled on a few pictures that someone took that I watched maybe 5 months earlier, dressed as Heather's Nancy Thompson. Her name is Diandra Lazor. She amazed me so well that I actually thought it was a 'never before seen photographs' from the original Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Diandra did it so well that I thought that this could be one big thing going for her.

I started to become really fond of how her pictures kept progressing in great numbers. Soon enough we were becoming really good friends from the time I added her when 'Myspace' was still around and worthy enough; to finally adding a friend on Facebook. I kept encouraging her to keep it up and never once I gave up on her for filling her dreams of looking and acting like her idol; Heather Langenkamp as Nancy Thompson.

The most remembered conversation I had with Di was that she was hoping one day she will get to meet Heather but; she kept doubting it because she didn't feel like it was going to happen. I kept telling her that she will and never let your guard down because it will happen. At the end of 2009 into 2010; more great photos of Diandra's Nancy were showing up and she was starting to turn into Nancy  in a very good way. I kept supporting her and making her feel great while gaining many new friends and fans.

We kept talking about her numbers would range from 64 to 300 in a matter of weeks and it kept growing! For a simple idea I did was take a few pictures of me as Freddy and merge her Nancy photo as a gift to show my respect and friendship towards her; naturally she accepted it and really loved how I could do Freddy's voice and Heath Ledger's Joker too.

In the meantime of 2010; she was trying out new outfits that she could use as her Nancy attires from the blue sweater to the 'Screw Sleep!' long sleeved shirt. The pieces were coming together so well and so perfect; I kept losing my words to say. Then there was one big announcement that really made her feel truly special.

2011 rolled in like a train of great outlooks for Diandra; she was going to attend her first convention called 'Days of the Dead' in Indianapolis Indiana. Not only it will star a certain celebrity guest but she would proudly do the introduction of Heather Langenkamp's 'I am Nancy' Documentary; which Diandra put her submission of why 'I am Nancy' meant to her in that Doc. July came and she was very excited but very nervous; I was there to meet her in person for the first time ever because I moved from New Hampshire to Indiana in Feburary to be with my Girlfriend; YouTube's Harley Quinn actress 'HarleyMK'. It was great meeting her along with new friends like Nick Tyson who plays 'Lester Jenkins', Jeff 'Wickedbeard' Cochran who plays numerous Jason Voorhees outfits from Friday the 13th series and Michael Myers from Halloween; William Adams as the best Freddy Krueger impersonator I have ever seen and his now wife; Barbara, the list goes on!

The convention was run by Adolfo Dorta and Rick Lara; who are great people and friends, and they did a spectacular job at it. It was my first convention too along with my Girlfriend. So Diandra finally met Heather for the first time ever and they hit it off greatly! I couldn't be more happy for my friend meeting someone we have talked about a year or two prior to that date.

After Days of the Dead from Indianapolis; she was so excited that her idol that she looked up to was everything she expected to be and nothing more greater than that. Diandra kept improving her looks and now she is supporting the 'New Nightmare' look of Heather and once again this time in Chicago; I met up with Diandra for the third time and for the second time of her meeting Heather Langenkamp. The future looks bright for her and I wish her many successes that she can have. I respect Diandra with all my heart and I am proud to be one of her friends. She is like a sister to me and I love her as a 'sister best friend type'. I'll always be there for her and she is more than welcome to lean on my shoulder when she needs someone to talk to. Keep on smiling forever Diandra and remember; BE NANCY!

What if you combind green hair dye, white makeup, and red lipstick?

You get a joke..well a JokeR! Last year the great late Heath Ledger inspired many among many people to get into acting or borrow our old Halloween makeup supply to put on. The legacy Ledger left us is still impacted until this very day. No one would have ever guessed a simple Australian heart throb to many girls out there turn into the most treasured icon in comic book history. A lot of people were saying and still is saying "Jack is the better Joker, Heath is a pretty boy". When Heath was announced as the role of Batman's popular enemy 'The Joker', many people were not interested and figuring out the sequel would suck and Nolan ruined the franchise of Batman. What we got was something out of this world, something we never seen before, something we were glued to the screen and saw a new generation Joker be born. Unfortunately Ledger passed away in early 2008 from a drug overdose. His death is still remembered and never forgotten. Heath Ledger to me before his groundbreaking role is one of the greatest actors that was simply outstanding. We miss Heath Ledger and we'll never forget your strength you put into a role.
